Plone Symposium East 2009

Tomorrow I’ll be attending Plone Symposium East, hosted right here at Penn State. I’m looking forward to attending a conference outside my usual area–and not having to travel during a busy month is a nice bonus!

I’ll probably be twittering during the conference, but I’ll also try to blog about anything of interest to the library world.

I just wanted to send you a personal note. While I am not a librarian, I enjoy reading your blog. You see, Penn State library played a major role in who and what I am today. My father and aunt worked there for years, Dad in audio visual and Aunt in the bindery. I would spend much of my free tine in the reading and periodical rooms, my first job was shelving books and my love of books and everything literary was born. That was many years ago when it was the Patee Library and when riding the elevator was like a trill ride.

My life and work has taken my to Southern California, but I still check out the Penn State library when I come “home” to State College. Now, I spend a lot of time in the Aliso Viejo, CA public library. What a difference 65 years make…our local public library has a coffee shop, computer stations, meeting room, yoga classes, fireplace, TV, quiet room and story time. It will always be my favorite place to go, whether to get help from the research librarian, have lunch or read a novel in quiet.

Thanks for letting me go down memory lane.
